April 17, 2008

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 12:05 PM on Thursday April 17, 2008 at the Waterfront Restaurant at 1 Uccelli Blvd. in Redwood City by Sarah Aguilar, Chapter Chairperson of the Central California Chapter of IAPMO. 

 

Introductions

There followed self introductions by the 17 attendees. Chapter Officers present were Sarah Aguilar - Chairperson, Nate Vasquez - Vice Chairperson, and Mo Salberg - Secretary.

 

Old Business

The minutes for March 2008 were approved.

 

Sarah Aguilar gave the treasury report and reported that last month’s meeting at Kliman was a huge success financially due to the large turnout and Kliman’s sponsorship of the lunch.

 

Upcoming calendar events included the AB &I Foundry Tour May 15, 2008 in Oakland at 9:30 AM followed by lunch at Francesco’s at 11:30 AM. RSVP’s re requested for the tour to provide an accurate head count.

 

Committee Reports

Nate Vasquez reported on the June 19, 2008 Golf Tourney Fundraiser at Los Lagos Golf Course in San Jose. It starts at 9:00 AM Thursday morning followed by a BBQ lunch and meeting. Fees are $115 per person and $460 per foursome. For more information contact Nate Vasquez at nate@pttc393.org or 408 453-6330.

 

Don Taylor reported that the Golf Tourney information would be posted on the chapter website and flyers were handed out at the meeting.

 

New Business

 

The Technical Committee meeting in Denver has been shortened to 2 days, May 5th and 6th enabling us to send more people. Among those attending will be members Bob Adler, Don Wadsworth, Sarah Aguilar, Phil Ribbs and Marty Cooper with the Chapter sponsoring Sarah Aguilar and Marty Cooper.

 

 

Presentation:

A delicious lunch was served and the monthly presentation got underway at 12:24 PM. This month’s guest speaker was Kendall Leak with Mer-Krete. Kendall’s one hour presentation touched on some significant problems in dealing with current mold and mildew issues and the different installations of shower pans available.

 

Raffle

The 1:29 pm raffle climaxed at a near riot level thanks to the generous contributions of Leana Pena of IAPMO Headquarters, Sarah Aguilar of Southland Industries, Bob Anderson of Osborne Company, Inc and Denis O’Halloran of Southwood Plumbing. Thanks also for the generous donations from Carl Cimino – director of the San Jose Local 393 Joint Apprenticeship Training Center, Mo Salberg with KDS Plumbing, Sarah Aguilar with Southland Industries, Steve Flores with ICOM, and Nathan Vasquez with San Jose Local 393’s Joint Apprenticeship Training Center.

 

Announcements

The next meeting will be on May 15, 2008 at Francesco’s at 8520 Pardee Drive
at Hegenberger Road, Oakland CA 94621 at 11:30 AM following the tour at AB & I Foundry which starts at 9:30 AM at 7825 San Leandro St., Oakland, CA 94621.
