Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 12:03 p.m. on Thursday December 17, 2009 at Ricky’s in San Leandro by Don Wadsworth, Chapter Vice Chairperson of the Central California Chapter of IAPMO.

Introductions

Self-introductions followed and there were 28 attendees. Chapter Officers present were Don Wadsworth – Vice Chairperson, Mo Salberg – Treasurer, and Steve Silber – Secretary.

Old Business

Mo Salberg gave the treasury report and it was approved unanimously.

The California Pipe trades won their appeal for PEX pipe. The PEX pipe does not meet the standards EIR.

Phil Ribbs notified members that OSHPD has withdrawn the proposal to the 2011 California Plumbing Code for the allowance of ABS and PVC pipe in medical facilities.

Phil also reminded the members that all proposed code changes for the 2012 UPC and UMC need to be submitted to IAPMO no later than February 1st at 5 p.m. You can find the IAPMO code development form on the IAPMO web page.

New Business

Javier Campos from Local 104 will be putting together a training seminar May 27, 2010 starting at 8 am and running 5-6 hours. The seminar will be on title 24 SMACNA standards.

IAPMO has re-appointed Bob Adler, Sarah Aguilar, Dave Mann, and Pennie Feehan to the plumbing committee and Bob Adler, Dave Mann, Dave Dias, and Pennie Feehan to the mechanical committee.

An election was held for the officers of our chapter for 2010, Don Wadsworth - Chairman, Mo Salberg - Vice Chairperson, Steve Silber - Treasurer, and our new Recording Secretary will be Joe Aiello.

Discussion; Bob Adler and Martin Cooper discussed TIA 04-009 of the 2009 UMC.  The 2500 ft/minute upper velocity limit to grease ducts will not appear in the 2011 CMC. It must be adopted by the local jurisdiction to be enforceable.

Announcements:

Phil Ribbs will attend the Building Standards Commission meeting for final hearings for the 2011 Building Standards on January 12-13 in Sacramento.  Chapter members should make every effort to attend if possible.

Vice Chairperson Wadsworth announced the next meeting will be at Ricky’s in San Leandro.

At 1:00 PM a raffle was held and special thanks to the following people and their organizations: Dave Mann, with Local 342, Sarah Aguilar with Southland Industries, Mo Salberg with KDS Plumbing, Bob Adler, and Phillip Ribbs with PHR Consultants for your generous contributions to the Chapter.

Adjournment

Chapter Vice Chairperson Don Wadsworth adjourned the meeting at 1:15 PM.
