Minutes

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 12:07 p.m. on Thursday July 15, 2010 at Piacere in San Carlos, CA. by Don Wadsworth, Chairman of the Central California Chapter of IAPMO. 

Introductions

Self-introductions followed and there were 16 in attendance. Chapter Officers present were Don Wadsworth – Chairman, Mo Salberg – Vice Chairman, and Joseph Aiello – Secretary.  Treasurer Steve Silber was absent.

Old Business

Approval of Minutes for June 2010.

Mo Salberg gave the treasury report and it was approved unanimously.

New Business

A motion was brought to the floor requesting the Chapter sponsor Marty Cooper representing Foster City, as Alternate to Bob Adler on the Plumbing and Mechanical Technical Committees.

With the stipulation of funds being available the motion was passed unanimously.  Congratulations Marty!

Discussion

John La Torra shared information regarding an effort to gain consensus relative to the enforcement of new “Green Building” requirements, by the major jurisdictions in San Mateo County.  For more information on this contact John La Torra.

Break for Lunch

Presentation

Steve Wong of Wilkins gave an informative presentation on Lead-Free Plumbing Legislation and the new requirements that went into effect January 1, 2010.  The information Steve brought to the table fostered a vigorous discussion on the subject.  The many questions raised highlight the fact that there is still a great deal of confusion about specifics pertinent to the Law; What and who is effected? and How the law will be enforced?  Steve was able to answer most of the concerns as well as point out some areas that still need clarification.  Good Presentation, Thanks Steve!

Raffle

Thank you Sarah Aguilar with Southland Industries, Alan Wald with IAPMO, Phil Ribbs of PHR Consultants and Mo Salberg of KDS Plumbing for your generous contributions and continuing support.

Announcements

Mo Salberg has been appointed Alternate to Dave Mann on the Plumbing Technical Committee.  Congratulations Mo!

Santa Clara County is Accepting Applications for Plumbing Inspector.  Those interested should contact Mike Harrison.

The next meeting will be at 11:30AM, August 19, 2010 at Ricky’s in San Leandro.  Presentation by Sonam Delma of The Hilti Corporation.

Adjournment

Chapter Chairman Don Wadsworth adjourned the meeting at 1:30 PM.
