Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 12:05 PM on
Thursday December 18, 2008 at the Waterfront Restaurant in
Introductions
Self introductions followed and there were 23
attendees. Chapter Officers present were Sarah Aguilar – Chairperson, Nathan
Vasquez – Vice Chair, Don Wadsworth - Treasurer and Mo Salberg – Secretary.
Old Business
The
approval of the November minutes was unanimous.
The
treasurer report was given by Don Wadsworth.
Thanks
for the suggestions last month. As a result we have three speakers lined up for
next year.
Installation
Dinner – January 17, 2008 at the Doubletree in
New Business
Marty Cooper suggested a
seminar on
Don Taylor provided
information on the possible use of our Chapter accepting credit cards.
Sarah Aguilar read a letter
from IAPMO headquarters which outlined their support of all the Chapters and
what to look for in the upcoming year on their Website.
Nate Vasquez reported that 89
spots were reserved for the Installation dinner but that only 39 have responded
with their dinner choices. Dwight Perkins and Ron Rice will be attending the
Installation Dinner.
Lunch was served at 12:30 PM.
Discussion
Phil Ribbs reported that
there will be a California Building Standards Commission Meeting on Thursday,
January 22, 2009 in
On December 22, 2008 there
was a Standards Council phone meeting. The assembly was successful on all
issues pertaining to the changing of the 2009 Code.
Chuck Crawford passed away in
September of 2008. He was a city of
Presentation:
At 1:05 PM Ron Murray, from
ASSE, began his presentation. Ron Murray spoke about promoting ASSE 7000 the
professional qualifications standard for plumbing based residential fire
protection systems. The standard incorporates the requirements of NFPA 13,
13R and 13D fire sprinkler systems, including residential design, installation
and different state certification requirements for one and two family
dwellings. Ron also presented information on Breathing Air Replenishment
Systems and Biohazard exposure to plumbers servicing and improving plumbing
systems at hospitals and institutions.

Steve
Silber encouraged people to become members of ASSE stating that our involvement
is vital to enable us to make changes.
Steve Medina, of Spears
Manufacturing, offered to provide training in the installation of CPVC Fire
Sprinkler systems.
Marty Cooper thanked Sarah
Aguilar for all her hard work over the years.
A raffle was held at 1:55 pm and everyone went happy
except for Brent Hipsher. Thanks for the prizes provided by Rick Babb and Steve
Medina of Spears Manufacturing, Carl Cimino of 393 Training Center, Phil Ribbs
of PHR Consultants, Sarah Aguilar of Southland Industries, Mo Salberg of KDS
Plumbing, Steve Silber of Local 342 and Don Wadsworth of CISPI.

generous donations to the Chapter.
