CENTRAL CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
The annual Officers Installation and Social Event
for the Central California Chapter of IAPMO was held on Saturday January 29th at
the prestigious and well known Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco, CA. The
room was beautifully decorated with blue and gold balloons throughout and baby
roses on each of the tables, which were given out as prizes at the end of the
dinner.

Over 80 guests attended. The members and their families who took part in the
events of the evening continue to strengthen our connections and our future in
this important industry and the principal roles we serve and perform.
All enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres which were passed around during the 2 hour
hosted reception before the dinner. There was much discussion among old friends
and associates about IAPMO and its future in the world. The background music of
old favorites by “Custom DJ Entertainment – Mr. Paul Haettenschiller” was
enjoyed by all during the cocktail hour and dinner. A delicious beef or chicken
dinner was enjoyed by all the guests.
We especially thank Jay Peters and his lovely wife for his visit and for
officiating the Officer’s Installation program. Jay is the director of Code
Development and Education for the IAPMO International Headquarters Office. Jay
gave us all an update of all the different jurisdictions that have adopted IAPMO
as their standards and of the continuing need for education among all the
countries of the world, especially the third world. He stressed how the code was
a minimum standard to follow for the protection of the health of the world.
Outgoing officers were acknowledged with our thanks and plaques for the past
year of hard work and commitment: Chapter Chairman -Mike Harrison, Senior
Inspector, County of Santa Clara; Chapter Vice-Chairman – John Wagner,
Representative of Tile & Stone Council of Northern California; Treasurer – Marty
Cooper, Inspector, City of Foster City.; and Secretary – David Ledda, Inspector,
City of San Francisco.
Installed as your incoming officers and presented with chapter pins were:
Chapter Chairman - John Wagner, Representative of Tile & Stone Council of
Northern California; Vice Chairman – Marty Cooper, Inspector, City of Foster
City; Treasurer – David Ledda, Inspector, City of San Francisco; and Secretary –
Sarah Aguilar, Chief Estimator of Southland Ind., San Jose, CA.
Special honors of acknowledgement with plaques were presented to Bob Adler,
Inspector, City of San Jose as Government Person of the Year and to Dan McEvilly,
State Code Compliance as Industry Person of the Year. Both are to be commended
for their dedication and hard work during the year. Dan immediately gave his
thanks and his plaque to his wife, Jackie, as he said she was the one who really
deserved the award.
Our new Chairman, John Wagner announced that his goal for this year is to have
more money in the treasury when he leaves than when he started. It sounds like
we are going to have a concerted effort of fundraising this year as well as
continuing our excellent educational luncheon meetings.

(Please Contact if you were missed for later mention.)
We had more than enough prizes to go around. In fact, everyone received a prize
and in the end some even received two or three! Pictures were taken throughout
the evening by the new secretary, Sarah Aguilar, which will be posted on the
website.
Some stayed over in the nearby motels which were moderately priced and within
walking distance. We all rounded out the evening with some dancing to some
oldies but goodies.
I would like to thank everyone for participating in making this a memorable and
very enjoyable occasion. We look forward to seeing all of you at the upcoming
monthly meetings and conferences.
