CENTRAL CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
Call to Order
Marty Cooper, Chairman of the Central California Chapter of IAPMO, called the meeting to order at 12:01 PM. This month the meeting for the Central Chapter of IAPMO was held at The Waterfront Restaurant on Thursday, February 16, 2005 at 1 Uccelli Road, Redwood City, CA.
Introductions
Marty Cooper, Chapter Chairman, welcomed the 22 members to the
meeting. Self-introductions were conducted. Marty Cooper introduced Christopher
McPhillips, Fire Protection Distribution Manager, & Michele Wierzbicki, Sales
Engineer.
Chapter Officers present were Marty Cooper, David Ledda, Sarah Aguilar and
Nathan Vasquez.
Old Business
The minutes from the meeting of January 28, 2005 were reviewed and accepted.
Marty Cooper wished to make a special acknowledgment of thanks for all the
donations received which enabled us to have a wonderful Chapter Installation
Dinner. The donations received were from the following:
2006 Installation Chapter Sponsors
Javier Campos, Special Projects Coordinator, Sheet Metal Worker’s Local 104 was in attendance and received his Industry Person of the Year award which was presented to him by Marty Cooper, Chapter Chairman.
Committee Reports
Sarah Aguilar gave the Treasury report. Nathan Vasquez gave the website
report and asked for help with the names of the members in the Installation
dinner pictures to be posted on the website.
New Business
Bob Adler, City of San Jose, talked about the Technical Committee and code development. John LaTorra, City of Redwood City, provided an update on the ICC & IAPMO memorandum of understanding. John also appraised the chapter on the code adoption cycle with the Building Standards Commission.
Discussion
Marty inquired about the UL listing on a Kohler tankless water closet. John Taecker from UL provided clarification on the scope of the listing. Scott Denny of Frank Denny Plumbing sent in a written inquiry about the drain connection for a Gaggenau steam & baking oven. The consensus of the members present determined that an air break would be sufficient.
Break for Lunch
Presentation
Christopher E. McPhillips spoke on Unifax Fyre Wrap, Ventilation Air Duct and Chemical Fume Duct, their design listings and installation practices along with the requirements of ER-5899 and NER-609.We would like to thank Christopher on his informative presentation.
Raffle
The Chapter would like to thank everyone who contributed to our raffle.
We would also like to thank Sarah Aguilar with Southland Industries, Phil Ribbs, PHR Consultants, John Wagner, Tile & Stone Council of Northern California for their generous donations. The Chapter greatly appreciates Unifrax Corporation and Christopher McPhillips for sponsoring today’s meeting.
Announcements
There will be a dinner dance retirement party honoring Dennis M. King, Chief
Plumbing Inspector of San Francisco on May 5, 2006. The announcement will be
posted on the website for those who would like to attend.
There will also be an American Construction Inspectors Association 46th Annual
Symposium on November 4, 2006. Please contact Steve Panelli @ (415) 558-6029 or

Nathan Vasquez, Chapter Secretary, announced that he is participating in The
Leukumia & Lymphoma Society “Hike for a Cure” and asked if he could us the
CCCIAPMO email list for his fund raising. A motion was made, seconded and
accepted by the membership.
The next monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2005 at Ricky’s
Sports Theatre and Grill at 15028 Hesperian Blvd. in San Leandro. The program
will be a general code discussion with Mike Harrison, County of Santa Clara,
commenting on waterless urinals.
