CENTRAL CALIFORNIA CHAPTER
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 12:02 PM on Thursday May 19, 2005 at Ricky’s Restaurant in San Leandro, CA. by Marty Cooper, Vice Chairman, of the Central California Chapter of IAPMO.
Introductions
Marty Cooper, Vice Chairman, welcomed the 12 members to the meeting and
our guest speaker from W& R Industrial Products, Wally Pruett. Self-introductions
followed general networking by the attendees.
Chapter Officers present were Marty Cooper, David Ledda, and Sarah Aguilar.
Old Business
The minutes from the meeting of April 21, 2005 were reviewed and accepted.
Bob Adler, Inspector, City of San Jose, gave a report of the Technical Committee in
Denver on May 2-6, 2005. There is a proposed amendment to the 2003 code to put back
some of the language that was taken out. The use of the extraction method from the NFPA
54 code has resulted in the elimination of certain plumbing and mechanical requirements.
Some of the proposals were successful thereby clarifying and reinstating code
requirements.
Thank you, Bob, for representing the chapter.
Committee Reports
The Chapter Vice Chairman, Marty Cooper, gave a report on the number of ‘hits’ on the
Website. The website is being utilized by a substantial amount of people. Unfortunately
we are unable to tell by the computer printout how many visitors are people looking for
information on our Chapter and how many are accidental. The most frequent use occurred
between 5-6 PM and around 11PM.
The Chapter Secretary, Sarah Aguilar, reported that she is compiling a list of past
Chairpersons of the CCCIAPMO and passed out the list to the membership for any additions
or corrections.
New Business
Nathan Vasquez, Plumber & Fitter Local 393, offered the use of Local
393’s Joint Apprentice and Training Center for meetings or seminars. It was recommended
that we have two 4 hour IAPMO Specialty Seminars, one in the morning and one in the
afternoon. The seminars would qualify for Continuing Education credits for the
participants. Marty Cooper will contact Jay Peters, of IAPMO Code Development and
Education Department, to see about scheduling dates, topics and instructors.
Phil Ribbs, PHR Consultants, has volunteered to be the IAPMO seminar instructor.
Marty Cooper reported that he is in contact with Sheetmetal Local 104 and is scheduling
an 8 hour specialty seminar sometime in the fall. It will be on Type 1 & 2 Hoods and
participants will receive continuing education credits upon completion of the class.
