Rick Ernst of Northern California MCA reported that the Building Standards Commission
met in Sacramento to discuss the possibility of a reconciling of the ICC and IAPMO. The
hope is that there would be one model plumbing code and one model mechanical code for
the United States. IAPMO and ICC are holding discussions about bringing their codes
together. This would be the Uniform Plumbing Code and International Plumbing Code as
well as the Uniform Mechanical Code and International Code. A full report is given on
the IAPMO website.
